New format for 2011
In March 2011 the following press release was issued by the organizers of the Danish Junior Cup regarding new format for the event:
The 27th edition of the traditional youth Tournament, Danish Junior Cup, takes place in the Autumn break and as usual with most players from the European elite.
Until now it has been for the age groups U15, U17 and U19, but this year will see a change. The oldest group (U19) will be replaced by U13, who now will be able to compete with the best players in Europe at an earlier stage.

In the later years we have seen, that countries like Germany, Netherlands and England has withdrawn from our team tournament. The U19 group thus had fewer teams and we believe, that the U13 players will face this challenge with enthusiasm, says Birgit Eriksen, who for many years has been the driving force behind Danish Junior Cup.
This year will also see an expansion of the individual U19 tournament held in Gentofte, in connection with Danish Junior Cup. This tournament has been upgraded to world rank listing under IBW, and will thus start a day earlier, Thursday 13. October. The best U19 players will also compete in the Youth World Championships at the end of October, so it will be a tough period for the Danish top players lead by Viktor Axelsen.
Danish National Team usually plays matches against foreign teams (England, France and Sweden) in week 42, but now more Danish players can look forward to meeting foreign competitors, when the regional circuit teams meet the National Teams from other countries.
